The easton stealth IMX is a 2-piece, all composite bat. It uses Easton's Integrated Matrix Technology (IMX) composite material. This is an aerospace grade fiber that is layered and angled a certain way that provides a big barrel and sweet spot.
It uses Easton's ConneXion (CXN) technology. This means that since it is a 2-piece bat, there is a connection between the handle and barrel.
Carbon Nanotube Technology (CNT), is a technology that highly strengthens the resin. It is also used in aerospace applications.

What is a big barrel bat? My son's baseball coach told us that we are now suppose to be using big barrel bats. What does he mean "big barrel"?
Little League and most baseball tournament organizations required that juniors and seniors (ages 13 and up) to use bats that have bigger barrels. For 12 and under Little League play, the bat barrel is 2 1/4 inches and has a weight to length ratio (or drop) typically around -9. These bats are lighter and small than high school bats.
When a player turns 13 yrs old and moves to the regulation size field, the bat rules change -- they can use big barrel bats. These bats have a barrel of 2 5/8 inches and a typical drop of -7 or -5. The heavier bats usually reduce a player's bat speed, due to the extra weight, for safety reasons. Many times these bats are labeled "Youth Senior League Bats" or "Youth Senior League Big Barrel Bats."
In high school, the bat rules change once again. High school athletic organizations require a bat drop to be -3 or less.
Although many parents don't like the idea of purchasing a $200+ bat that will only be used for 2 years, this is an important transition your son is going through. During this two year period, his physical strength will dramatically increase. But until it does, the youth big barrel bats will allow him to remain competitive at the plate.
What I did when my son was going through this transition, was to purchase an easton stealth youth senior league bat and then auction it at ebay when he was ready for the high school bat weight.

Easton has been the leader in composite bats for the last several years and will undoubtedly continue this trend with the IMX, their new 100% composite bats for 2009. Easton is extremely smart to their approach in manufacturing baseball bats by not putting all their eggs in one basket. They leave no stone uncovered by making top notch models in every category and design. Their top priority is pushing the 2 piece design and flex handle which they pioneered some 6 years ago with the Connection introduction. Stealth IMX 2 piece bat with a flex handle they say increases the trampoline effect. The flex handle has a rating of 75. This has been Easton's traditional bread and butter design for the last several years.The Stealth IMX has a swing weight (m.o.i) of 90 making it more end loaded than the Synergy IMX.
Synergy IMX 1 piece bat with a stiff handle. Easton added stiff handles to their Stealth Comp bats last year to combat Louisville. They upped the ante in 2009 by making the stiff handle IMX a one piece bat. The handle has a rating of 90. They claim this design provides increased balance and bat control through the hitting zone. The Synergy IMX is aimed directly at the heart of the Louisville baseball bat consumer. As mentioned, an extremely smart move by Easton. The swing weight (m.o.i) is 80 making it more balanced than the Stealth IMX.
Both are quality high grade bats that are by far the most popular new composite bats on the market. You'll see these bats at every age level from youth to college. The Stealth IMX is more popular at the moment which indicates a preference for the 2 piece design. Last year the Stealth Comp stiff handle was more popular than the Stealth Comp flex handle, both Stealth Comp models were 2 piece bats.

Should I buy the orange easton stealth comp, or Red Exogrid baseball bat?
I am a college player who has a good swing, but I'm to add a little more power and pop just for the lil extra advantage that I go late?
Personally, I stiff-Stealth Regular Flex, cost about $ 290, and several friends have bat, I prefer ExoGrid the Stealth model, but went with the regular flex steep. To say that bats each the emergence of a new, Easton took like 4, all around $ 360-380 and have a new ExoGrid. Just remember your not hitting the ball the bat, not get caught up in looks, or popularity, but take the bat will do the work for you, because eventually you call around, not the bat.
