The worth copperhead is back and ready to take a bite out of the competition!
This bat features a one piece design made from Worth's durable alloy. With X-Tended Sweet Spot Technology, the 2 5/8 inch diameter barrel on the Copperhead is extended 1 1/2 to 2 inches longer to create the largest sweet spot of any aluminum bat in the game!
The Copperhead is plugged by a Center Load End Cap that is designed to allow barrel flexibility and 5% more inertia to drive through the ball. This bat also features Worth's Whiplash Technology which creates a 30% thinner taper for reduced weight and increased bat speed. Rawlings is one of the oldest names in the baseball equipment industry. Unfortunately, they're the Rodney Dangerfield of baseball bats. They get no respect. You rarely see a Rawlings bat on a little league, high school and most definitely a college field. In a nutshell, it's not cool to have a Rawlings bat.
Rawlings and Louisville have very similar baseball bat philosophies. The stiff handle one piece bat is the center of their universe. Here's what Rawlings is offering in 2009:
- Rush Composite Lite - One piece, 100% composite bat featuring a stiff handle. Rawlings has entered the composite bat category and, as they should be, is priced below the top composite bats of its competitors. But it's not priced low enough so I'd go with the Omaha Composite if you must have a 100% composite bat and don't want to pay top dollar. Plus, Rawlings doesn't even provide any hype for the material of this bat. No "pitch black" composite, "double weave", etc. This is unheard of in the industry. We must have spin!
- Rush Gold Lite - Two piece, composite handle, alloy barrel bat that features a stiff handle and "liquid metal" allow. I can't recommend this one either as there are better options.
- Plasma - One piece, 100% alloy bat with a stiff handle and Rawlings "liquid metal" alloy. Okay for the younger player, but otherwise I'd pass on this one as well.
Now, I have seen players hit the ball a long way with a Rawlings bat. But as mentioned, I'd only purchase a Rawlings bat for a young player or if you're on a budget.

Easton has been the leader in composite bats for the last several years and is a favorite in baseball bat reviews. They've come out with two new 100% composite models for 2009:
- The Stealth IMX - Two piece bat, 100% composite bat with increased handle flex. The increased flex handle stays true to the Stealth bat tradition (the so-called trampoline effect). The Stealth IMX comes in two other youth models Power Hitter and LCN11. The only difference is the length to weight ration.
- The Synergy IMX - One piece bat, 100% composite bat with a stiff handle. Easton added stiff handles last year to combat Louisville, as they've always pushed the "benefits" of stiff handle bats. Easton is trying to surround Louisville with this model. They've always had the two piece design while Louisville didn't, now they're attacking them head on with a one piece stiff handle design.
Two excellent 100% composite bat options for the experienced player. The main difference from last year's models is that the stiff handle design is a one piece this year. Interesting considering most went with the stiff handle design the last two years. It's simply a personal choice. If you want a 100% composite bat with the latest technology this is your bat.
