Today the company makes both the traditional wood bats as well as high-end aluminum baseball bats. Louisville Slugger's history is in the hands of legends like Babe Ruth and Hank Aaron, and more modern-day professional baseball players use louisville slugger baseball bats than any other brand. In 2006, Louisville Slugger introduced the Exogrid, a hybrid bat featuring a composition transition in the handle, but an aluminum shell - this design is around today in many of their bats. The company claims this gives the bat a stiffened handle but still allows for a trampoline effect on the barrel. Louisville slugger bats also feature the ST+20 alloy that the company says "was designed exclusively for Louisville Slugger by Alcoa and is the strongest alloy on the bat market today" . Prices for wooden baseball bats start at $20 and run up to about $150. Louisville Slugger's composite aluminum bats also start at about $20, and their highest-end composite aluminum bats cost about $300.
